Thermal printer settings for your label size
Labels line up, printing does not start halfway and the printer reports no errors. Enter your label size and get the exact values for your printer driver.
Steps: 1. Load the roll and enter the values above in the driver. 2. Run calibration (Zebra: hold FEED until it flashes, release after 2 flashes; TSC: „Gap calibration“ in the menu or hold FEED while switching on). 3. Print a test label. 4. If the print is faint, raise Darkness by 2–3 steps; for thermal transfer check that the ribbon is wound the right way.

Common problems and how to fix them
- Printing starts halfway down the label or skips a label – the label height or gap in the driver is wrong, or the printer is not calibrated. Enter the values from the tool and run calibration.
- The printer flashes and reports a paper error – wrong media type. For labels with gaps choose Gap / Web, not Continuous or Black mark.
- The print is faint – raise Darkness by 2–3 steps or lower the print speed.
- Nothing prints with direct thermal labels – the driver must be set to direct thermal (not thermal transfer) and the roll must be loaded the right way round.
203 or 300 dpi?
Most desktop thermal printers have 203 dpi (8 dots per millimetre). For small text and dense barcodes 300 dpi (12 dots per millimetre) is used. You will find the resolution on the printer label or in its settings.
